The Savage Arms F T/R...
If you are looking for an out of the box factory rifle in 308 Winchester for long range competition shooting, then you've just found it!
Your perfect specification for a custom F T/R rifle would likely include the following:
1: Minimum 30" barrel length - essential for achieving the muzzle velocities needed to keep a 308 bullet supersonic at 1000yds.
2: Solid, strong single shot action with small loading port to maintain stiffness.
3: A match trigger adjustable from 6ozs to 2lb in weight.
The guys at Savage agreed with you and included all of these with the Savage F T/R as well as an attractive laminate stock with triple pillar bedding.
The Osprey Rifles Price for this specification is £1,500
National league sponsorship...
Osprey Rifles, in conjuction with their partners at Garlands, the UK Importers of Savage, sponsored the GB F Class league in 2008 by giving a Savage FTR rifle to the winner of the FTR National League, the lucky winner Russ Simmonds is now also the World Champion having won at Bisley this year.
F-CLASS RIFLE COMPETITION SHOOTING:
The more formal use of F-class rifles in organised competition during the summer season has tended to
grow rather more slowly, although in general, newcomers to target shooting have tended to take up F-class, which is encouraging
When F-class initiator George Farquharson was a member, he put up for the best club FTR sport rifle performance.
