The Barrel...In choosing a barrel you will need to consider a number of factors; material, length, profile, twist rate, no. of grooves, caliber, crown, finish and chamber. The choices may sound daunting, but Stuart Anselm at Osprey will be pleased to guide you through the process. And because Osprey Rifles are not tied to a single manufacturer exclusively, they can source and fit any barrel - it is a custom rifle after all! The following all offer threaded and chambered barrels for Savages: PacNor, Shilen and Border Barrels from the UK. Costs vary, but as a guide, the price of a match quality barrel, pre-chambered in the USA, start at £450 fitted and proofed.  |

The Stock...Your choice of stock pretty much depends on what you want to use your rifle for; an F class / Long range benchrest rifle or field based rifle to be shot off a bipod. At the time of writing Osprey Rifles use stocks made by Sharp Shooter Supply, a US based Savage specialist. Their stocks are extremely well finished, with superb triple pillar bedding, and are available in a range of colours in four basic designs; Long Range Benchrest, Tactical, Thumbhole Benchrest & Offset Tracker. The price of these stocks start at £400, varnished and fitted. |
